Anderson, Millie (2 OCT 1861 - 28 FEB 1941)

After many years of illness, Mrs. George Anderson, 79, died at her home in Loyal at 9:30 o’clock, Friday morning, Feb. 28, 1941.

Mrs. Anderson, nee Millie Rumsey, was born in Rubicon, Dodge County, Oct. 2, 1861.

She was married to George Anderson in Milwaukee, Oct. 10, 1883. Their early married years were spent on farms. Their oldest daughter Ethyl, was born on a farm near Neillsville, Mabel and Ray, near Hartford, and Verne, near Loyal which has been the family’s home-town for over forty years with the exception of a year and one-half when they operated a hardware store in Unity, and a year spent in Washington and California.

They moved into the village in 1913, and for the past nineteen years have lived in their present home.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Methodist Church and the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union in both of which organizations she was an earnest worker until ill health prevented such activities. She lived her religion and her family in recalling their years with her stated that they had never heard a cross word from her lips. She had a host of friends and will be remembered by those who knew her in her active years for her gentle ways and her kindly disposition.

Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Art (Ethyl) Dweyer, Kila, Mont., and Mrs. Otto (Mabel) Weyhmiller, Loyal; two sons, Ray of Rockford, Ill., and Verne of Eau Claire; one sister, Mrs. H. O. Bigelow, Madison; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A niece, Mrs. Alva Cummings, has for the past six years been a devoted attendant of Mrs. Anderson in her illness.

Funeral services were held at the house at 1:30 P.M., and in the Methodist Church at 2 P.M., Monday, with the Rev O. Jewell officiating and interment was in the Loyal Cemetery. Pall bearers were R. M. Pratt, Walter Gray, Chas. Davel, Ray Prior, V. O. Kauffman, and Robert Wehling. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Martha Castner, Mrs. J. R. Colby, Mrs. Robert Wehling, and Mrs. Wm. Walls. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ray Anderson and son Robert, Rockford, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Verne Anderson, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Bigelow, Madison; Mrs. Walter Siminson, Merrillan; Miss Ethyl Mallery, Whitehall; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Amidon, Melrose; Mr. Alva Cummings, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Bopp, and Mr. Wilbur Cummings, Alma Center; Mr. and Mrs. John Michael, Humbird; and Mrs. George Amidon, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schultz and son Harvey, Miss Emma Karnitz and Mr. Frank Wiesner, Neillsville.
