Winkler, Edward M. (6 Aug. 1883 - 20 Aug. 1954)

Funeral services for Edward M. Winkler, age 71, a lifetime resident of the Unity, Wisconsin area, who died of a heart attack Friday morning at the home of his son, Edward, Jr., in Laona, were held Monday afternoon at the Trinity Lutheran church in Unity, Rev. Claude Vander Stoep, officiating, and burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery.

Pall bearers were Carl Mellgren, Lester Safemaster, Orville Westberg, Roland Safemaster, Nels Safemaster and Lloyd Ringquist.

Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Bernard Eckes, Mrs. Nels Safemaster, Mrs. Roland Safemaster, Mrs. Orville Westberg, Mrs. Lester Safemaster, Mrs. John Beyer, Miss Carol Speich, Mrs. Warren Justman, Mrs. Fred Justman, Mrs. Gene Barnett, Mrs. Ray Johnson, Mrs. Glen Johnson, Mrs. Lester Bruesewitz and Mrs. Frank Budde.

Mr. Winkler was born on August 6, 1883, at Unity and received his education in the Romeo School. On May 10, 1911, he married Thea Williamson at Spencer, Wis. She died on April 14, 1950. The couple lived on a farm east of Unity until they retired six years ago and moved to Unity, Wis. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church.

Besides his son, Edward Jr., Mr. Winkler is survived by two other sons, John Winkler, address unknown, and Norman Winkler of Unity; two daughters, Mrs. Milton (Emily) Wolfe of Loyal and Mrs. George (Evelyn) Jeske of Stratford; two brothers, Joseph Winkler of Marshfield and John Winkler of California; a sister, Mrs. Martin Beyer of Unity; and nine grand children.
