Gumz, Dorothy Elaine (Marriage - 25 May 1955)

Miss Dorothy Elaine Gumz, daughter of Mike Gumz of Stetsonville, and Donald Harold Scheibe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Scheibe of Abbotsford, exchanged vows in Peace Evangelical church, Dorchester, Wednesday afternoon, May 25, before Rev. Fred W. Kollath.

The wedding gown was floor-length, the Chantilly lace placed over the full satin skirt and bodice, the yoke of which was nylon tulle. The bodice, which had a standup collar and long sleeves coming to points over the wrists, was buttoned in the back. The fingertip veil of illusion was held in place by a Queen of Scots cap of rosepoint lace illuminated with pearls. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses, pink carnations and lily of the valley.

Appearing in blue strapless floor-length gowns were the maid of honor, Miss Janet Gumz of Dorchester, a cousin of the bride, and the bridesmaid, Miss Mary Scheibe of Abbotsford, a sister of the groom. The lace and net-over-satin frocks had lace jackets. Each carried a bouquet of blue and white carnations.

A miniature replica of the bridal aides’ dress was the white frock worn by the flower girl, little Mary Wittkamp, a cousin of the groom, who clutched a tiny bouquet of carnations and lily of the valley.

Kenneth Ingersoll, Jr., of Abbotsford was best man, Fred Gumz of Stetsonville was groomsman and Kenneth Gumz of Dorchester was ring-bearer.

The wedding reception took place at the bride’s home and the dinner was served at the Dorchester parish hall.

After a southern Wisconsin wedding trip, the Scheibes will be at home to friends in Dorchester, Wis. Mr. Scheibe is presently employed at Streckerts and his wife formerly worked at the Abbotsford Café, Abbotsford, Wis. He is a 1950 graduate of Abbotsford High School and his wife a 1951 graduate of Medford High School.
