He was born in Poland on Feb. 3, 1879, and ventured to America with his parents, and settled in the vicinity of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

He leaves to mourn, besides his wife, seven sons, John of Cleveland, Ohio, Edward of Mississippi, Bernard, Hastings, Minn., Lawrence of North Dakota, Clarence, Chester and Frank of Thorp; and six daughters, (Clara) Mrs. Frank Glawezewski and Dorothy Galinski of Cleveland, Ohio, Tillie of Chicago, Lillian, Joan and Lorraine of Thorp; three sisters, Mrs. Anton Papierniak, Thorp, Mrs. Peter Grzechowiak and Mrs. Frank Borcikowski of Cleveland, Ohio; and two brothers; besides a host of friends and other relatives in this vicinity.

(Note: The following was provided by Joseph's granddaughter - Valerie M. Forbes)

Galinski - I am the granddaughter of Joseph and Anna (Placzkowski) Galinski of Thorp WI. Joseph was born 2-3-1879 and arrived in the US approx. 1888 with his older sister Julia and mother Anna (Betlej). His father Lawrence was already in the US. Joseph's parents lived in Cleveland OH and had 4 more children: Josephine, Antoinette, John, and Frank.

Placzkowski - I am the granddaughter of Anna Placzkowski (Platt) of Thorp WI. Anna was born 6-20-1893, the daughter of Andrew and Konstentena (Lipinski) Placzkowski. Andrew and "Tena" were married in Shamokin Dam PA and had 6 additional children: Elsie, George (died approx. age 13), Clara, Louis, Veronica, and Joe Robert (died in PA). It is believed Andrew arrived in the US in 1888.

Thank you!
