Lindsley, Mildred (8 OCT 1941)

Rev. C. Gaylord joined in holy wedlock Miss Mildred Lindsley, niece of Mrs. Alice Fainter of Stanley, and Mrs. Alwood Van Gilder, son of Mrs. Hulda Van Gilder of Sand Creek, Wis., in a ceremony performed at the Methodist Church at Stanley at three o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 8th, 1941. Mrs. Gordon Heagle presided at the organ and played Lohengrin’s Bridal Chorus as the bridal party march up the altar and Mendelssohn’s Wedding March as a recessional. Mrs. Heagle also sang, "Oh Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly."

The bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, E.E. Thompson of Eau Claire, was very charming in a gown of wine colored velvet, with a blusher veil, and black accessories. She carried a shower bouquet of gardenias and wine-colored pompon chrysanthemums. She was attended by Miss Fairy Van Gilder, who was gowned in blue velvet with blusher to match and black accessories. Her bouquet was similar to that carried by the bride, except in coloring, which was gold colored pompons and Talisman roses. The groom was attended by Philip Peterson of Sand Creek. Both men wore dark suits with gardenia boutonnieres. Kenneth Homes of Eau Claire and Kenneth Urquhart were ushers.

After the ceremony a reception and buffet luncheon was held in the church parlors. About 25 immediate relatives were present.

A wedding dance was given in the evening at the Legion Hall in Thorp. The bride and groom then left on a honeymoon trip and will be at home to their many friends after their return at 105 Dahl St. in Stanley. The groom is employed at the Ladysmith Cooperative Mile Plant at Stanley.
