Curtiss, Wis. - Sept. 29, 1955

The Helping Hand Society will meet on Friday, Sept. 30, at the home of Mrs. Fred Pudlas.

The first meeting of the year of the Curtiss School P.T.A. was held on Friday evening, Sept. 23. Mrs. Milton Meske, president, presided at the business meeting. A program was presented by the committee. Mrs. Art Laabs, Mrs. Milton Meske and Miss Marlene Weix will attend the council meeting of the Seventh District P.T.A. at Waupaca Saturday, Oct. 1.

At a business meeting of the Curtiss Ev. Luth. Church Sunday, it was voted by a large majority to build a new church near the parish hall. The building of a new church or the remodeling of the old church has been carefully considered for some time.

Mrs. Walter Newman entered St. Joseph’s Hospital the fore part of the week where she underwent surgery Monday.

Pfc. Milford Leffel, who is stationed at New Foundland, arrived here Saturday to spend a 30 day leave with his family at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Krueger, and his parents at Colby, Wis.

Mrs. Phil Stoltz of Ashland was a week-end guest of Mrs. Frank Matthias. Saturday, Mrs. Florence Frick and Mrs. Robert Dunkel of Athens visited at her home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Frane visited at Wausau, Wisconsin Friday and helped the latter’s grand mother, age 90, celebrate her birthday anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Thompson visited Sunday with their son-in-law and daughter, Rev. and Mrs. Gordon Sorenson, at Lowell.

Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Erickson and son, John, and family of Ames, Ia., enjoyed a trip to Northern Michigan this week.

A week-end outing to the Jens cabin, west of Phillips, was enjoyed by Mrs. Bertha Peterson, Mrs. Bertha Jens, Mrs. Elizabeth Buss and Mrs. Bertha Schorer, the latter of Stevens Point.

Mr. and Mrs. George Olson of Manitowoc visited this week with Mr. and Mrs. Gust Becken.
