Richard 'Dick' H. Schlinsog

MINOCQUA -- Richard "Dick" H. Schlinsog, 66, of 9828 Grouse Road, Minocqua, formerly of Marshfield, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, while ice fishing in Tomahawk.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday Feb. 9, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 7937 Highway 51, Minocqua, with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. and service at 2 p.m.

He was born April 16, 1941, in Neillsville to Harry and Nelda (Drescher) Schlinsog. He was a graduate of Loyal High School. He married Patricia Morrison on July 30, 1960.

Dick graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago as an electronic technician. He was a partner of K&S TV in Marshfield for many years. He and his wife moved to Lake Havasu City, Ariz., in 1988 and returned to Minocqua in 2002 to enjoy their family and retirement.

He had a passion for airplanes. He was an active member of EAA where he was a chairman in pilot briefing at Air Venture in Oshkosh for many years.

He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Minocqua. He has been the driving force to establish Northern Light Via de Cristo in Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula. His greatest joy was his love for his children and grandchildren.

Dick is survived by his wife, Patricia. Also surviving are one son and daughter, Michael (Linda) Schlinsog of Tomahawk and Jill (Jay) Sparks of Washington, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Michael Jr., Deonna and Kelly Schlinsog, Mathew, Derek and Cody Guldan, Maegen and Aaron Sparks; two great-grandchildren, Michael III and Madison. Also surviving is one brother, William (Nette) Schlinsog of Middleton.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Ted.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church for the Organ Fund or Via de Cristo Scholarship Fund, in care of Grace Lutheran Church, 108 W, Somo Ave., Tomahawk WI 54487.
