OWEN -- Merlyn A. Ritter, 79, of Owen, died Feb. 11, 2008, at Department of Veterans' Affairs, Tomah.

Services will be from 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Maurina/Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Withee.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, and until service time Friday, both at the funeral home.

Merlyn A. Ritter

OWEN -- Merlyn A. Ritter, 79, of Owen died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Tomah.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at the Maurina/Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and from noon until services Friday at the funeral home.

He was born March 17, 1928, in Floyd, Iowa, to Paul and Alice (Adams) Ritter. He joined the Merchant Marines for a short tour before entering the Army and serving in the Korean War until his honorable discharge. In July 1957, he married "Tennessee" Huffstatler. She predeceased him in 1986. He worked at Kerry Ingredients as a bagger.

Merlyn is survived by two stepchildren, Martha Thomas, Memphis, Tenn., and Dennis (Susann) Wages, Marshfield; four step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Victor (Eilleen) Ritter, Unity, and Glenn Ritter, Abbotsford; and three sisters, Alice Bender, Owen, Alfrieda (Troy) Austin, Abbotsford, and Pearl Darge, Spencer.
