Erdman, Adolph (15 Nov. 1907 - 25 June 1955)

Adolph Erdman, a former resident of Colby, passed away at Hillsboro early Saturday morning, June 25, 1955, at the age of 47 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, June 28th, at Owen, Rev. A. Saremba, vacancy pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran church, Green Grove, officiating at the rites, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were nephews and flower girls were nieces of Mr. Erdman.

Mr. Erdman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Erdman, was born at Colby on November 15, 1907. He received his education in this community and grew to manhood here. He was married on November 17, 1927, to Miss Anna Fakes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fakes of Curtiss. The wedding ceremony took place at Colby, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Erdman first established their home in Colby, later moving to Dorchester where he was employed by the Dorchester Canning Company. In 1944, when the Dorchester company established a canning plant at Hillsboro, Mr. Erdman was transferred to Hillsboro and the Erdman family became residents of that city.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Donald Janechek (Arlene) of Mauston and Miss Audrey Erdman of Milwaukee; two sons, Verdayne and Marlyn, both of Milwaukee; three grand children, Barbara Janechek and Jerry and Sherry Erdman; his aged mother, Mrs. Mary Erdman of Colby; two sisters, Mrs. Eugene Johnson (Elsie) of Holcombe and a twin sister, Mrs. Arthur Fakes (Esther) of Curtiss; one brother, Oscar Erdman of Colby, Wis. He was preceded in death by his father, Gustave Erdman, and one twin son, Merlyn, who passed away at the age of three months.
