Boehnen, Ruby L. (5 DED 1911 - 16 FEB 2008)

Ruby L. Boehnen,96, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at the Colonial Center in Colby, Wis.

Ruby was born on Dec. 5, 1911, in rural Neillsville, to parents Albert and Minnie (Scholl) Hoffmann. She was raised in Merrillan and graduated from high school in 1929. On Jan. 20, 1933, she married Gabriel Boehnen in Bloomer. After farming in the Alma Center area for several years, they moved to Milwaukee and lived there for many years. After her husband's retirement, they moved to Fremont, and wintered in Lakeland, Fla. Gabriel preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1977. In 1985, she moved back to Milwaukee and in 1990, she moved to Loyal. She resided at the Colonial Center in Colby since 1996.

In addition to being a homemaker, at various times during her life Ruby ran a flower shop, a grocery store and a root beer stand.

Ruby is survived by her niece, Marlene Nagel of Jackson and her nephews, Kenneth Boehnen of Spencer and Larry Boehnen of Alma Center. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, George, and her sister, Frances.

Funeral services for Ruby L. Boehnen will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday Feb. 20, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Alma Center, with Reverend Jude Dioka officiating. Burial will take place in Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Alma Center. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church.

Casket bearers will be Larry Boehnen, Robert Boehnen, Ken Dux and Robert Schmidt.

Arrangements are with the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton.
