Englebretson, Lucille (5 JUN 1943)

A quiet but very beautiful wedding was solemnized on June the 5th, at 12:00 noon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Markee, Town of Warner (Clark Co., Wis.), when their only son, Clarence F. took as his bride Miss Lucille Englebretson, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Englebretson, town of Beaver (Clark Co.).

The bride chose as her wedding gown a floor length, white satin and net, on the princess line with a sweetheart neckline, and fitted bodice. She wore a fingertip tulle veil, caught to a coronet of orange blossoms, over her beautiful blond hair and carried a colonial bouquet of mixed flowers and ribbon streamers.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stafford, sister and brother-in-law of the bride, were their only attendants. Mrs. Stafford wore a blue satin and net gown with flowers in her hair and carried a bouquet similar to the bride’s.

Acting as flower girls were Carolyn Pederstuen and Genevieve Franz, little nieces of the groom, were gowned in floor length pink and blue satin and carried a miniature bouquet similar to the bride’s.

The groom wore a teal blue dress suit with a white carnation boutonniere. Mr. Stafford wore a dark blue business suit with a white carnation boutonniere.

The wedding procession proceeded down the long stairway to the strains of the wedding march, played by Paul Pederstuen, brother-in-law of the groom.

Violet Otto, niece of the groom, sang "I Love You Truly," preceding the ceremony.

The ceremony took place in front of a large bay window of potted flowers and under streamers of the wedding colors and large white wedding bells. The Rev. C.S. Matthews read the sing ring nuptial service.

Violet Otto, Joyce and Doris Capes, nieces of the groom, acted as waitresses and were gowned in the wedding colors and wore a pink carnation.

The table was beautifully decorated and a three tiered wedding cake was used as a centerpiece. Covers were laid for approximately thirty-five close relatives and the bride and groom.

In the evening a wedding dance was held at the Merry Ol’ Gardens at Longwood, where a large crowd attended.

Monday evening a reception was held at the groom’s home for the newlyweds, where a large crowd of relatives and friends presented them with many beautiful gifts and a sum of money.

Mrs. Markee, before here marriage, attended High School at Loyal where she was graduated May 28th.

Mr. Markee is engaged in farming in the town of Warner.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Markee will make their home with the groom’s parents, where the father and son farm together.

Guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pederstuen and family, Mrs. Clara Johnson, Geneva Pederstuen, all of Prairie Farm, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Englebretson, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stafford and baby, all of West Beaver, Grant Dutcher, Melrose, Mrs. Etta Otto and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Capes and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Franz and family, and Rev. and Mrs. C.S. Matthews, all of Owen.
