Wolter, Margaret #2 (11 NOV 1860 - 19 MAY 1943)

Mrs. Margaret Wolter (Fox), a pioneer resident of the town of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.), died at the home of her daughter on May 19, 1943, after a short illness.

Mrs. Wolter was born in Baltimore, Maryland on Nov. 11, 1860. She was married to August Wolter on Oct. 13, 1878 at New Hampton, Iowa, where they lived for several years. In 1881 they moved to Fall River, where they made their home for twenty years. They came to Withee in 1899 and settled on a farm in the town of Longwood. To this union ten children were born, Edward of Spokane, Wash., Hugo on the home place, Mrs. Lily Mann of Beaver Dam, Mrs. Minnie Malcolm of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Bertha Ewing of Whitewater, Mrs. Ada Hagen of Withee, and Mrs. Oscar Christenson of Stanley; also 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; two daughters, Mrs. Esther Hodnett of Withee and Mrs. Olga Taylor preceded her in death; also one son who died in infancy.

On Oct. 13, 1928, Mr. and Mrs. Wolter celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1928. Since then Mrs. Wolter made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Sam Hagen.

Mrs. Wolter was a member of the first Congregational Church of the town of Longwood and also a member of the Ladies Aid. Her sudden death came as a shock to the community.

Funeral services were held from the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) at Owen Saturday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Hotchkiss officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband in Riverside Cemetery.
