Ravy, Walter #2 (21 APR 1877 - 24 OCT 1941)

The appointed time of passing into eternity came quietly to Walter Ravy, 64, at his farm home three miles north of the village of Curtiss late Friday evening, Oct. 24, after a long lingering illness.

Mr. Ravy was a pioneer resident of the Curtiss community having lived on his present farm home for the past 32 years. The recent years he had been in failing health. However, throughout this period of time he maintained a pleasant disposition and enjoyed life despite his handicap.

He was a true Christian and faithful church worker in the Curtiss Congregational church of which he had long been a member. During his last years of illness he enjoyed his Christian beliefs and sought great comfort from them. He had his funeral service completely planned out and wrote his own obituary and sermon which Rev. J. H. Rostad read at the burial service.

He was born on April 21, 1877, in Waupaca county. In 1908 he was united in marriage to Nellie Hamblin. The couple were blessed with three children, two sons, John of Abbotsford, and Henry, who is at home; and a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Roder.

He is survived by his family, four grandchildren, five sisters, Mrs. Gladys Bacon of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Max Miller of Oshkosh, Mrs. Gustav Humbach, Mrs. Ben Stevens, and Mrs. G. Mitchell all of Manawa; and two brothers, Clarence of Unity, and Robert of San Diego, Calif. Two other brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted from the Congregational church at Curtiss, Monday, Oct. 27, by Rev. J. H. Rostad. Interment was made in the Pine Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers at the service were Paul Schultz, Irvin Goessel, Rhinehart Klocke, Arthur Klocke, Leon Smiley and Emmet Hawks.
