Hansen, Anders (12 JUN 1854 - 03 JAN 1942)

Anders Hansen, one of the pioneer residents of the Village of Withee, who made his home there for 34 years before moving to St. Paul to live with his daughter and family four years ago, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, in St. Paul suffering from old age complications. He was 87 years of age.

Funeral services were conducted from the Danish church in Withee on Monday, Jan. 5, by the Rev. J. L. J. Dixen of Withee, and Rev. Rasmussen, his son in law of St. Paul.

He was born on June 12, 1854, in Denmark and came to this country as a young man. He was united in marriage to Anna Dorthea Juhl at Cedar Rapids, Ia. From 1903 until 1937 he made his home in Withee where he did carpentry work.

Mr. Hansen was the father of two sons, Peter of Cedar Falls, Ia., and Holger of Minneapolis; and eight daughters, Ellen Brodersen of Cahasset, Marie of Minneapolis, Thyeo Andreason of Withee, Dagmar Norgaard of Brookings, S. D., Valborg Rasmussen of St. Paul, Cecelia Jacobsen of Minneapolis, and Elizabeth Hansen of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by a twin brother living in Denmark several years ago, and his wife, who passed on to eternity four years ago.

All of his children except Elizabeth of Phoenix, Ariz., were able to attend the funeral services as well as 28 grand and great grandchildren.
