Geiger, Gertrude A. (14 JUN 1868 - 21 JUN 1943)

Gertrude Adell Andrew, the eighth and youngest child of Edmund James and Martha Ellen Andrew, was born June 14th, 1869 at Brooklyn, Green Co., Wis.

Her childhood, girlhood, and early womanhood was passed in the village of Brooklyn. She attended the Brooklyn Public School and Evansville Seminary.

She was married to John E. Geiger in the Andrew home in Brooklyn on Oct. 26th, 1887. by Rev. J.E. Coleman, president of the Evansville Seminary. All her early years were passed in Brooklyn except one year when she and her husband lived in Janesville.

Health made necessary a change of location in January 1900 so she came to live near Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) on a farm northeast of the village now owned by the John A. Schmidt Estate. Having sold this farm in October 1913, the family moved to the village and have since occupied the home which they built the next year.

She was a member of the Methodist Ladies Aid from 1900 to 1942, with six years as secretary of that organization. She was also a member of the Woman’s Union Club from 1911 to the day of her death, and a member of the Welfare Club with a record as treasurer for twenty years of this organization.

Failing health had confined her to her home for more than the last two years. She passed away Monday night, June 21st, 1932, at 8:35, having lived to be seventy-fife years and seven days of age. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and son, Vivian, several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church here at 2:00 o’clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. Harry Lee officiating.

Services will also be conducted at the Methodist Church in Brooklyn by the pastor of that church, Friday morning, and the body laid to rest in the cemetery there.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Andrew, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Megow and sons of Superior, Wis., were the out of town relatives who attended the funeral.
