Hartson, Henry Hobart (1857? - 4 Jan. 1944)

Henry Hobart Hartson, 87, died at Greenwood January 4. He had been active for years in the affairs of Clark County. From 1886 to 1888 he ran a stage line, carrying mail and passengers between Neillsville and Withee. He was president of the Greenwood School board for 20 years, and it was during his presidency that the present high school building was erected. He edited the Greenwood Gleaner from 1892 to 1917, and was postmaster from 1900 to 1917. He was once engaged in the hardware business. From 1924 to 1931 he held the office of city treasurer.

Mr. Hartson was affiliated with the Woodmen and the Masons. He was given a Masonic Funeral, with interment in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Hartson is survived by the widow, three sons and three daughters. One of the sons is Wellen G. Hartson of Neillsville.
