Meske, Martha (29 JUL 1869 - 7 JUL 1944)

Mrs. Martha Meske passed away at her home in the town of Withee on Friday, July 7th, 1944, after a lingering illness. She had reached the age of 75 years, 11 months and 7 days.

Martha Barnett was born in Prussia on July 29th, 1869. She came to America in 1884 and was married to John Meske at Chicago in 1889. They located in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1903 and this has since been her home. Mr. Meske died twenty-five years ago.

Surviving are three sons, Frank, George and Harry of Thorp; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Mueller of Chicago, and one brother, John Barnett of Chicago.

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church at ten o’clock Monday morning, July 10th, Rev. F. Piekarski officiating, assisted by Rev. Lengowski of Necedah and Rev. F. Przybylski of Independence. Interment took place in the nearby parish cemetery, the following acting as pallbearers: Paul Tobey, August Anton and Frank Serocki, John Lorentz and Leo Zielinski, nephews of the deceased.
