Cook, Virginia Lee (Marriage - 24 Nov. 1956)

The First Methodist Church, Marshfield, Wisconsin, was the scene of Miss Virginia Lee Cook and Wallace A. Carlson Saturday afternoon. The daughter of the Gilbert Cooks and the son of the Gustave Carlsons were united in marriage by the Rev. Dwight Jarvis. Both families reside in Unity.

A reception and dinner in the church parlors followed the wedding.

Forest green and pumpkin crystalette was chosen by the bride for her attendants - Miss Faye Helterhoff, West Allis, a cousin of the groom, as maid of honor, and Miss Gloria Hanson, Unity, bridesmaid. Their ballerina length gowns featured princess styling and were complimented by the fall colors of their bouquets and headbands, comprised of carnations and pompoms.

The full-length bridal gown was of lace over taffeta, with long sleeves and a scalloped neckline as bodice details. Skirt accent was a spray of pleated nylon in the front.

White and ivory ribbons tied the bridal bouquet of red roses and white carnations.

David Carlson, Unity, a cousin of the groom, was his best man, and Earl Cook, Marshfield, the bride’s brother, served as groomsman. Ushers were Marvin Carlson, Marshfield, a brother of the groom, and Robert Breseman, Marshfield.

Completing the wedding party were Phillip and Carla Carlson, Marshfield, nephew and niece of the bridegroom, who were ring bearer and flower girl. Carla’s dress was of white taffeta, trimmed in lace.

The newlyweds returned to their work in Milwaukee on Monday. They will reside at Veterans Deluxe Mobile Park, 2100 W. College Ave., Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The bride was graduated from Colby High School and Northwest Instititute of Technology in Minneapolis. Her husband, a Unity High School graduate is an employee of A. F. Gallum and son, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
