Ratsch, Harold F. (19 March 1918 - 28 March 2008)

Harold F. Ratsch, 90, Greenwood, died March 28, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville, where he had resided since January 10, 2008.

Harold was born March 19, 1918, in the Town of Grant, Clark County, the son of Herman and Emma (Nowak) Ratsch. He received his education at Reed School, Neillsville. Harold married Irene Sternitzky August 27, 1943, at the Clark County Courthouse, Neillsville. They farmed near Lindsey in Wood County and later in the Town of York, Clark County. Harold was also employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory, Roddis Company and Rollohome, all of Marshfield. He then worked at Greenwood Homes and for the township of York. He was a member of the Tri-County Lutheran Dart ball League for many years and was an avid baseball fan.

Harold is survived by his wife, Irene Ratsch of Greenwood; two sons, Gerald (Adeline) Ratsch of Granton and Ronald (Sharon) Ratsch of Marshfield; three daughters, Betty (Al) Coel of Oconto, Beverly (Roger) Lau of Mosinee and Gloria (Dale) Riedel of Chili; 16 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anita (Robert) Lulloff, Neillsville, and Luella Bragg, Neillsville; one brother, Robert (Marie) Ratsch of Neillsville and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Emroy and Marlon; two sisters, Edna Steffan and Iris Smith; and one brother, Clarence "Jack" Ratsch.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, at the Buchanan Funeral Home, Neillsville. Reverend Robert Olson will officiate. Burial will be at the Windfall Cemetery, Granton. The family will greet friends and relatives after 10 a.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.
