Heiman, Gladys E. (10 AUG 1944)

A very pretty wedding took place at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on Thursday morning, Aug. 10, 1944 at eight o’clock when Gladys Esther Beller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Beller of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Raymond Heiman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Heiman of Thorp. Rev. A.M. Muckerheide performed the ceremony.

The bride’s dress was of white satin with sweetheart neckline, long sleeves and long train. Her long veil was held in place by a crown of orange blossoms. She wore pearls and carried a shower bouquet of white gladiolas and gardenias with an orchid in the center.

The groom wore a dark blue suit with a gardenia boutonniere.

The little flower girl, Luann Schmidt, niece of the bride, wore a long dress of white moiré taffeta and carried a white basket of white gladiolas, pink tea roses and blue swansonias. Her headband was pink rose bud and blue ribbon with a white veil. Rex Schmidt, nephew of the bride, acted as ring bearer. He wore a dark brown suit with a white aster boutonniere and carried a white satin heart shaped pillow with the rings.

Miss Ella Heiman, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. Mrs. George Schmidt, sister-in-law of the bride, was bridesmaid, and George F. Schmidt, brother of the bride, was best man. Another attending couple was Miss Mercedes Maier, friend of the bride and groom, and Leonard Heiman, brother of the groom. The maid of honor and bridesmaids were dressed alike in white net over white satin and their headbands were pink rose buds and blue ribbons with white veils. They also wore pearls, a gift of the bride, and all carried shower bouquets of white gladiolas, pink tea roses and blue swansonias.

The groom’s attendants all wore dark blue suits with white aster boutonniere.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where about thirty guests were present. The dining room was trimmed in pink and white and a beautiful three-tier wedding cake was the centerpiece of the table. In the evening a shower and wedding dance were held at Mileaway Pavilion.

The young couple will make their home in Milwaukee, where they are both employed in defense work.
