Smith, Henry (16 MAY 1895 - 18 APR 1942)

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Finnish Lutheran church, Owen, by the Rev. George Autio, for Henry Smith, 47, of Chicago, who lost his life in an automobile accident last Friday afternoon eight miles west of Stevens Point. Interment was made in the Riverside cemetery.

Smith, accompanied by his son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Arnie Venette, and seven months old son, and Stanley Scesniak, all of Chicago were enroute to Withee for a week end visit when he lost control of his car on a curve on highway 10 near Stevens Point. None of the other occupants of the car were injured.

Henry Smith came to this country as a young man from Russia where he was born May 16, 1895. He was married to Miss Mary Kukula, formerly of Withee, and the past several years had made their home in Chicago. He is survived by his wife and a daughter. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the First World War having served in the Army for three years.
