Meyer, Josephine (19 July 1911 - 12 Apr. 2008)

Josephine Meyer, age 96, of Adams County, formerly of Medford and the Town of Greenwood, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 in Liberty Manor in Adams.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Wednesday, April 16, at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake, with Fr. Bernie Byrne officiating.

Internment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake.

Visitation was held Tues. evening at the Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home, Rib Lake, and on Wed. morning at the church until the time of the mass. There was also a parish prayer service and rosary Tuesday evening.

Josephine was born on July 19, 1911 in Taylor County, the daughter of John and Theresa Thomas. She attended grade school in Taylor County and was a 1930 graduate of Medford High School. In 1931, Josephine graduated from the Taylor County Normal School. She taught in one room schools at Green Grove, Cleveland, Sunny Knoll, Fawn Valley and Rib River.

On June 1, 1940 she was united in marriage to Clarence Meyer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rib Lake. They owned and operated a farm in the Town of Greenwood until 1969. She also served as the Treasurer for the Town of Greenwood and was also employed as a substitute teacher for the Rib Lake School District.

Josephine enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, playing bingo, baking, and loved to dance.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, in 1988; her parents; and an infant daughter, Wanda Elise.

Survivors include: two daughters: Anita (Tom) Daniels of Waunakee, and Maureen (Pat) Hauswald of Friendship; a grandson, Jeff (Vicki) Daniels of Waunakee; a step-granddaughter, Heather (Scott) Young of Lake Delton; two great-grandchildren, Lukas and Holly Daniels of Waunakee; three step-great-grandchildren, Tyler, Carly and Brady Young, all of Lake Delton; other relatives and friends.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home of Medford is serving the family.
