Zepaltas, Rose M. #2 (1 MAR 1918 - 26 MAR 2008)

Rose M. Zepaltas, 90, Eau Claire, formerly of Greenwood, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the Syverson Lutheran Home, Eau Claire. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 31, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeremy Hatleli, Matt Hatleli, Kristopher Roach, Ryan Zepaltas, Steven Fellenz and Tim Fellenz.

Rose Marie Jasurda was born on March 1, 1918, in Phillips, the second oldest of 10 children born to John A. and Mary (nee Budzalak) Jasurda. She was raised and received her education in the Phillips area. In her late teen years, she moved to Chicago to work. While living in Chicago, she met John J. Zepaltas and they were united in marriage on Jan. 4, 1941, in Chicago. They had two children while living in Chicago, and eventually moved to Greenwood where they seven more children. Her husband, John, died on Oct. 30, 1964. Rose continued to live in Greenwood and courageously raised her children by herself. While in Greenwood, Rose worked as a clerk for the Greenwood Pharmacy and for Sam’s Clothing Store. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Churcg and the Clark County Homemakers. She was a loving and generous person who extended herself throughout her family, friends, and community. She was involved in many activities that included 4-H, music, gardening, sewing, traveling and other community work. She had a strong love for life, and zest for being active. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who crossed her path.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Nancy Fellenz, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Mary Ann (Paul) Becker, Madison; Jim (Nancy) Zepaltas, Eau Claire,; Donna (Chip) Hateli, Eau Claire; Diane Zepaltas, Lumberton, N.C.; Debbie (Dave) Deering, Kaukauna; Kathy (Paul) Bielen, Santa Rosa, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Helen Zepaltas, Eau Claire; one brother, Frank (Donna) Jasurda, Phillips; one sister, Sr. Benita Jasurda, OSB of Lisle, Ill.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John; two sons, John, Jr., and Thomas Zepaltas; five brothers, John, Ed, Cyprian, Emil and Joe Jasurda; and two sisters, Mary Jasurda and Helen Schierschmidt.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
