Ditter, Frances G. (27 FEB 1921 - 7 APR 2008)

Frances G. Ditter, 87, Mt. Calvary, died on Monday, April 7, 2008, at the Villa Loretto, Mount Calvary. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, April 11, 2008, at St. Peter Church, St. Peter. The Rev. James Jaeger officiated. Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Jericho.

Frances Gertrude Birschbach was born Feb. 27, 1921, to John and Mary (nee Bertram) Birschbach, in St. Peter. She married Raymond Ditter on Nov. 23, 1943, at St Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter. They lived in the Chilton area and ran numerous businesses including a general store, sawmill, livestock trucking, well drilling and pump installation. They moved to Loyal in 1973, and owned and operated Ditter Well Drilling until Ray’s death in 1986. They were active members of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and she was a member of the Christian Mothers Association. She enjoyed baking bread, quilting and gardening. She made and donated quilted baby blankets to missions and orphanages around the world.

Survivors include her children, Norm 9Diane) Ditter, Rockford, Ill.; Paul (Ginny) Ditter, Jericho; Pat (Ed) Balcom, Lenore City, Tenn.; Mary (Phil) Hanson, Durand; Jo Ann (Chuck) Piette, Hortonville; Janet (Jim) Brandt, Manitowoc: Eileen (Paul) Weller, Wittenberg; Jim (Barb0 Ditter, DePere; 19 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, four sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her daughter, Theresa; a granddaughter, Anna; and three brothers.

Zacher Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
