Castner, Hazel I. (3 JUL 1945)

A very pretty wedding took place at the Loyal Methodist Church, when Miss Hazel Irene Castner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Castner of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Hugo John Roesler, son of Mrs. Herman Buss of Thorp (Clark Co.), on Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock at a double ring marriage ceremony. Rev. Myron E. Taylor performed the ceremony.

The altar was beautifully decorated with pink and white peonies and mock orange blossoms.

The bride was dressed in navy blue sheer with white accessories, and wore a shoulder corsage of pink and white carnations tied with pink satin ribbon. She wore a pearl necklace and earrings to match, which were gifts of the groom.

The bridesmaid, Mrs. Orlena Sprengler, sister of the groom, was dressed in navy blue sheer with white accessories and wore a shoulder corsage of pink and white carnations tied with yellow satin ribbon.

The groom and his attendant, Rev. Sprengler, brother-in-law of the groom, wore blue suits and wore carnation boutonnieres.

The bride’s mother wore black and the groom’s mother wore navy blue.

The bridal party entered with music strains of "Mendelssohn’s Wedding March" played by LaVonne Smith. The songs "Oh Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly" were sung by Mrs. Irene Prior, accompanied by LaVonne Smith at the piano.

A reception was held in the dining room of the Methodist Church and dinner was served to fifty-five guests.

The bride is a four-year graduate of the Central State Teachers College at Stevens Point, Wis. She has taught for twenty-one years in the Clark County Rural, State Graded and village school. The groom, who recently received his honorable discharge from military service, is employed as fireman at the Blue Moon Dairy at Thorp.

The newlyweds will be at home in Thorp after July 2nd.

Guests from away, who attended the wedding were: Rev. and Mrs. F.H. Sprengler and family, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Buss, Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Rossman and little daughter, Judy, Mrs. John Barth and daughters, Pearl and Betty, William Roesler, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Buss and son, Bobby, and Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Sisco, all of Thorp; Miss Clara Roesler of Eau Claire; Miss Helma Roesler of Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Castner and family of Antigo; Mr. and Mrs. John Kosmosky and family of Eau Claire; Harry Castner, Seaman 1c, home on a 30-day furlough from the Aleutian Islands.

The day was a double affair. It was the bride’s father’s 77th birthday.
