Neal Taplin, brother of Mrs. Fred Bullard, passed away on March 26, 1944, at Blodgett Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich., after an illness of three months.

He was born in Neillsville, on January 16, 1882, attended the Neillsville High School, and learning plumbing and steam fitting, being associated with his father, W. W. Taplin. Later he became a traveling salesman for Milwaukee and Chicago firms. In June, 1901, he was married to Miss Belle Bartlett. About 1907, they went to Lansing, Mich., and from there to Grand Rapids, where they have lived the past 35 years.

Shortly after World War I, Mr. Taplin organized and was president of the Taplin Furnace Co.; designing and making his own furnaces. The last few years he was head of the Taplin Realty Co.

Neil’s last visit to his home city was in August, 1943. He is survived by his wife, Belle, his sister, Mrs. F. V. Bullard, and by several nieces and nephews. His only brother, Frank, passed away last December. He was laid to rest in the beautiful Rest Lawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids, on Tuesday, March 28.

Mrs. Bullard, Mrs. Ella Beeson and Mrs. H. F. Darling, the latter two of Eau Claire, were with the family one week.
