Staff Sergeant Jack K. Crothers, 24, of Granton, waist gunner on an Eighth AAF B-17 Flying Fortress, has been awarded an Oak Leaf Cluster - to his Air Medial, equivalent to another award of the Medal.

The award was made for meritorious achievement while participating in bombing attacks on industries of Germany and on costal defense and communications in support of the Allied invention of France.

Sgt. Crothers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Crothers of Route 1, Granton. He was a student at River Falls State Teachers’ college before he entered the AAF in January, 1942.
