Lewandowski, Anton (15 FEB 1861 - 12 AUG 1946)
Anton Lewandowski, 85, passed away at his home in the village of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) of old age infirmities on Monday, Aug. 12th, 1946.
Mr. Lewandowski was born in Pozen, Poland on Feb. 15, 1861. He was united in marriage to Julia Sadowski in Poland in 1888. They came to America in 1889, first locating at Port Kennedy, Pa., and moving to Trenton, N.J., a few years later. They came to Thorp in the year 1900 and settled in the Town of Reseburg. After residing there for about 1 ½ years they removed to Cleveland, Ohio, but returned to Reseburg again in 1903. They retired from farming in 1929 and moved to the village of Thorp, which has since been Mr. Lewandowski’s home.
He is survived by three sons, Anton of Thorp, Leon of Cable, Wis., and Chester of Kenosha, Wis.; one daughter, Mrs. A.V. Olson of Minneapolis, and 13 grandchildren. Mrs. Lewandowski passed away in 1929, one son Alex in 1933 and one son Stephen in 1944.
Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church on Friday morning at 9:00 o’clock, Rev. Francis Piekarski officiating, and interment following in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: Frank Meske, Peter Pabich, Anton Koltis, Walter and Joseph Pulokas and Martin Przesmicki.
