Vanderhyden, Maisie (13 MAY 1935 - 13 SEP 1946)

Maisie Vanderhyden, 11-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Vanderhyden, was injured fatally Friday afternoon when she suffered a brain concussion from a fall.

She was returning to her home Friday afternoon from St. Bernard’s School on her bicycle, a gift of several days before, when she fell on the road close to her home, striking her head. She was discovered in a dazed condition by the neighbor, Mrs. E.F. Heidemann, who took her to her home and then to the home of her parents. Her condition became worse and she was taken to the hospital at Chippewa Falls but passed away before reaching there.

Maisie Vanderhyden was born on May 13, 1935 at Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.

She attended St. Bernard’s Parochial School and was in the sixth grade.

Besides her parents, she leaves to mourn, two sisters, Ann Marie and Dorothy, and three brothers, Richard, Wilfred Jr., and Murviel.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.M. Muckerheide at St. Bernard’s Church at 9:30, Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, and burial was made in the parish cemetery. Six cousins of the deceased served as pallbearers, Ervin, Bernard and Wilbur Benzschawel, Cyril, Edmund and Gilbert Alger. Honorary pallbearers were Arnoldene Benzschawel, Jane Benzschawel, Rosann Conway, Joan Hedler, Rosann Ebben and Rosella Dulek.

Relatives from out of town here to attend the funeral were: Miss Dorothy Vanderhyden of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Velcheck and son, Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Culbert, Mr. and Mrs. E.O. Boettcher, Mrs. Geo. Rafferty, Eau Claire; Mrs. Jos. Binsfeldt and daughter Germaine, Mrs. Lena Miller, Mrs. Jos. Anholdt, Wm. Pritzl, of Brillion; Frank Pritzl, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schuebel, Boyd; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Chopin, Mr. and Mrs. Al Schmitz, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brocktrup, Miss Mary Brocktrup, Mr. and Mrs. George Klauk, Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Micke, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Culbert, Mrs. Steve Culbert, Mr. and Mrs. Jule Swans, Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Micke, Gilman; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warns, Withee.
