Gayken, Weert (15 Jan. 1880 - 14 Feb. 1945)

Funeral services for Weert Gayken, 65, of Curtiss, were conducted Saturday afternoon, Feb. 17, at the Gribenow funeral home in Owen. Mr. Gayken died Wednesday morning, at the farm home of his son, Sylvester Gayken, town of Hoard, where he had been visiting for a few days. He had been in poor health for some time. Burial took place in Pine Hill cemetery.

Mr. Gayken was born in Iowa, Jan. 15, 1880, and was married there in 1910, to Minnie Aldinger, who survives. In 1915, the Gaykens moved to Wisconsin and settled in the town of Hoard, Clark county, where they have since resided.

Surviving besides his widow are two daughters, Ida, Mrs. Lester Bowen, Curtiss; and Frances, Mrs. Franklin Peissig, Minneapolis; four sons, George of Wilhelmina, Ore., and Lee, Clifford and Sylvester, town of Hoard. There are nine grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and four brothers, none of whom reside in this area.
