Luebke, Charles (1882 - 1 Mar. 1945)

Funeral services for Charles Luebke, aged 63 years, were held Monday afternoon, March 5, at 2 p.m. at the Jaster funeral home. The Rev. G. W. Longenecker, pastor of the Congregational church, officiated. Burial took place in the Neillsville cemetery. Mr. Luebke had been in failing health about a year, and recently was a patient at the Neillsville hospital, where he died Thursday, March 1.

Charles Luebke, son of Carl and Emelia Luebke, was born in 1882, at Manitowoc, Wis. When 21 years of age, he came with his parents to Clark county, and has been a resident of this county since. Mr. Luebke was a man of quiet disposition. He was a good workman, and for about 25 years operated a threshing machine and sawmill in this community. He was unmarried, and had lived alone in and near Neillsville for many years. About a year ago he went to live at the home of a sister, Mrs. Ida Brown, where he was cared for until he entered the hospital.

He is survived by three brothers and two sisters: William Luebke, Minneapolis; Emi Luebke, DeRidder, La.; Fred Luebke, town of Levis; Minnie, Mrs. Peter Buddinger, Granton; Mrs. Ida Brown, Neillsville. There are also a large number of nieces and nephews. His parents, three sisters and two brothers are deceased.

Pallbearers for the funeral rites were: Gust Holtz, Albert Hemp, Charles Schroeder, Thomas Peaslee, George Begley and Frank Hemp.
