Decker, Wanda (23 Oct. 1929 - 17 May 2008)

Wanda Decker, 77, Colby, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in Abbotsford and on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at the Maurina - Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, Wis. Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will presided. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in the town of Colby, Wis.

The Colby VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #2227 will hold a service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Wanda was born October 23, 1929, to James and Emma (Robey) Gregory in Poteau, OK. She attended a country school in Spring Hill, OK, until the 8th grade. She and her family moved to Fort Smith, AR where she was employed as a waitress and a maid while caring for parents.

She married Clarence Decker on July 6, 1945, in Fort Smith, AR. They moved to the Colby area in 1951 where they began farming. Wanda also worked a the Abby Café in Abbotsford as a waitress.

In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, canning, working in her flower beds and fishing.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Clarence, Colby; by son James (Danijela) Decker, Colby; and two grandchildren.

Maurina - Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
