Shramek, Dorothy (Marriage - 26 Aug. 1945)

At a 2:30 service on Sunday, August 26, Roy West, son of George West of the town of Grant, claimed as his bride, Miss Dorothy Shramek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shramek of the town of Washburn. The Rev. George W. Longenecker performed the double-ring ceremony at Sunset Point.

For her wedding, the bride chose a white floor length gown with a white jersey waist and a skirt of white satin with a white net overskirt. The long full net sleeves were decorated with satin ribbons and her fingertip veil fell from a rhinestone tiara. She carried an arm bouquet of pink roses and white gladioli.

The bride’s two attendants were Miss Doris Wegner and Miss Leona Zank. The groom was attended by Frank Matas and Gerald Janke.

A dinner and reception was held for the couple at 6 p.m. at the home of the bride’s parents. About 80 guests were in attendance. The house was decorated in pink, blue and white, with baskets of cut flowers and two large wedding bells.

Mr. and Mrs. West left for a week’s wedding trip to southern Wisconsin and into Michigan. For her going-away outfit the bride chose a brown suit with matching accessories.

The bride was graduated from the Neillsville high school with the class of 1944 and has been employed at the court house in the office of the county agent, and since December has been working in the office of the Wiedenhoeft Co. plant. The groom received his diploma from the Neillsville high school with the class of 1940 and left that same year with the Service company. He was in the army service for 4 years and 9 months, and 33 months of that time he spent overseas in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines. He has now received his honorable discharge. The couple plan to live in Neillsville.
