Meihack, August Fredrick (5 Aug. 1866 - 16 Aug. 1945)

On Sunday, August 19, funeral services were held for August Fredrick Meihack, 79, who died at his home in the town of Weston, Thursday, August 16. The body lay in state at the Jaster funeral home until Saturday, when it was taken to the Meihack home, where funeral services were conducted; and later to the Globe Lutheran church, where further services were held. The Rev. Adolph Schumann officiated.

Mr. Meihack was born August 5, 1866, in Germany. He received his education there. He was married to Bertha Nemitz November 2, 1889, in Neillsville, and six children were born to them. Mr. Meihack came to the United States in 1883 and was employed in and around Neillsville until 1889. Then, after his marriage, he moved to a farm in the town of Weston, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran church.

He is survived by his wife and six children. The children are: Emma, Mrs. Emil Wessenberg, town of Pine Valley; Margaret, Mrs. John Olson, Milwaukee; Sarah, Mrs. Herman Beyer, Athens; Clara, Mrs. August Beyer of the Globe community; Anton Meihack, on the home place; Mildred, Mrs. Adolph Beyer, also on the home place. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
