Word reached Neillsville recently of the death on September 4 of Fred Tompkins, formerly of Granton. Burial took place on Friday, September 7, at Rice Lake. The cause of his death was a heart attack. Fred Tompkins was in the insurance business while in Rice Lake.

He is survived by his wife, four children, his brother, Frank, and his sister, Mrs. Charles Lapham.
