Pokallus, Carl (28 SEP 1859 - 30 DEC 1932)
Carl Pokallus was born in Germany Sept. 28, 1859, and passed away at his home in Colby Friday Dec. 30, 1932, following a stroke of paralysis.
Mr. Pokallus came to America and settled in Colby, Marathon county in 1884. He was united in marriage to Caroline Ostike, to whom he became engaged while yet in Germany, Jan. 2, 1885, and who preceded him in death in 1895.
In 1896 Mr. Pokallus and Louisa Zimmerman were united in marriage.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Colby, the Rev. Otto Hoffman officiating, and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Mr. Pokallus was the father of Albert Pokallus of Abbotsford, Wis. The widow and ten children survive.
*Transcriber note: In the #1 obit for Carl Pokallus, his first wife’s name is listed as Augusta Osterky, rather than Caroline Ostike. In the obit for Augusta Pokallus on this site, her maiden name is spelled Osteike, and Mr. Pokallus’s first name is listed as Charles.
