Bruley, Edward E. #2 (10 AUG 1853 - 19 APR 1902)

Edward E. Bruley died at his home in this city (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) Saturday morning, April 19th, 1902, at 4 o’clock, death resulting from a cerebral disease that had utterly baffled the best medical experts, and as no post mortem examination was held, its nature is still unknown. And it is doubtful if such an examination would have revealed the true nature of the trouble. He had suffered intense pain in his head, not continuously, but at intervals, during his long sickness of several months, and had been to St. Paul and La Crosse to consult specialists, but could get no relief. He died in the presence of the entire family, wife and three daughters.

Edward Bruley was born in Ottawa, Canada, Aug. 10, 1853, came here when a boy of 15 years, was married to Mary E. Campbell in 1876, and leaves three daughters, Mrs. I.M. Stockwell, Miss Mattie and Ida, the youngest, two brothers, Emery, who resides here, and Thomas of Ottawa, Canada; two sisters, Mrs. Sophia Peltier of Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. Jos. Desilets of Great Falls, Mont.

He was for years connected with the lumbering business, as foreman in camp and on the river, and was highly esteemed as an efficient man. He was a genial man, the soul of honor, and highly spoken of everywhere, and until the recent illness greatly enjoyed life in his beautiful suburban residence surrounded by a charming family, as happy as mortal could be. He was stricken down in middle life and henceforth those who loved him most have only the memory of a noble husband and father for their consolation. He was indeed of the salt of the earth.

The funeral took place from the Catholic Church, Rev. Jos. Hauck officiating.
