Schumann, Alois (21 JUNE 1852 - 3 AUG 1933)
Alois Schumann was born in Bavaria, Germany, June 21, 1852, and passed away at his home in the village of Abbotsford, Wis., August 3, 1933, at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 12 days, the cause of death being cancer, from which he had been a sufferer for the past seven months.
Mr. Schumann came to the United States sixty-four years ago and settled in Marathon county in 1900, where he followed the occupation of miller.
In 1903 he was united in marriage to Anna Schneider at Colby, who with his two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Plescher of Aurora, Ill., and Mrs. Francis Schuessler of Alderwood Manor, Wash., survive.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 7th at the St. Bernard church in Abbotsford, with interment in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.
Out of town people attending the services were Mrs. Leo Bates, New Mexico; Mr. and Mrs. John Kirstein and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kirstein and daughter, Marathon City; Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Hastreiter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Haebig, and Mrs. Jacob Hoffman, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bogumill and Mrs. Wm. Wagner, Jr., Thorp; Mrs. Frieda Conrad and Mrs. Otto Sturner, Curtiss.
