Wallis, Dean W. #2 (14 JUL 1874 - 23 JUL 1947)

Dean Wilton Wallis, 73, passed away suddenly from a heart attack July 23, 1947, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Plahn, at Clayton.

Dean Wallis, son of Pascal and Orzina Wallis, was born July 14, 1874, in Bloomington. He came to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) when he was 13 years old and resided here until 1944, when, due to failing health, eh went to live at the Plahn home in Clayton.

He was married to Mrs. Alice Sanford on Sept. 18, 1908. Eight children were born to this union.

He is survived by his wife of Greenwood, and the following children: Leo Wallis of California; Mrs. Leona Plahn of Clayton; Mrs. Irene Rydell, Mrs. Eleanore Mitchell and Mrs. Elsie Montez, all of St. Paul; S/Sgt. Donald Wallis of Tucson, Ariz.; Henry Wallis, at home; and two step-daughters, Mrs. Ora Hulett of Hixton, and Mrs. Mabel Farley of St. Paul; a sister, Mrs. Grace Millard of Wolf Point, Mont., also 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Services were held at the Schiller Funeral Chapel Saturday afternoon. The Rev. J. C. Klingeberger, pastor of the West Side Reformed Church, officiated. Interment was made in the family lot in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Albert Dahl, Simon Schwarze, Erwin Leach, Fred Decker, E. T. Opdycke and Edwin Kern.

During the services Mrs. Albert Dahl and Mrs. Louis Behrens, accompanied by Mrs. John Meng, sang.
