Humboldt, William H. (1 NOV 1869 - 30 JUN 1942)

William Henry Humboldt was born Nov. 1, 1869, in Jefferson county, where he grew to manhood.

He was married to Miss Cora Halbrader in 1900. A few months later he moved onto the present farm in the town of Seif, where he lived for over 40 years. He cleared the present farm, consisting of 113 acres, and also made some fine buildings on it.

He died on June 30 at 10:05 o’clock at the Neillsville hospital, where he was a patient for 11 days. Prior to this he also was a patient at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital. He died after a lingering illness of about four years.

He was town supervisor for about six years, and also served as school director for about five years.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Humboldt preceded him in death, as did his three brothers and one sister.

Surviving him are his wife, Cora; a daughter, Estella (Mrs. Emil Dux); one son, Lyle, living at home; some nieces and nephews, and two grandchildren, Erline and DrWayne Dux.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 5 at 2 o’clock from the Jaster funeral home in Neillsville, with the Rev. Obed Asp officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ludwig Perushek Sr., John Seif, Frank Laken, Charles Asplin, Fred Griep and Fran Van Horn.

Flower girls were Bernyce Celar, Helen Laken, Erline Dux, Doreen Griep, Joyce Griep and Dorothy Walker. The floral offerings were great and very beautiful.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson of Rockford, Ill. and Mr. and Mrs. William Voight of Chetek.

The Tribune joins the many friends of the bereaved in extending sympathy.
