Miss Melva Catlin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Catlin of Loyal, became the bride of 2nd Lt. Ray F. Guzman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Guzman of Stevens Point, at a ceremony which took place Wednesday morning, July 29, at 8 o’clock in St. Peter’s Catholic church, Stevens Point. The Rev. Julius Chylinski officiated in the presence of immediate relatives and friends. The choir assisted with the nuptial high mass.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of white chiffon, styled with a v-neckline, long full sleeves and a short train. Her fingertip veil was arranged in cap effect with an orange blossom headdress. She carried a white prayer book with gardenias and ribbon streamers. She wore a cross, a gift from the groom.

Miss Esther Guzman, sister of the bridegroom, was the bride’s only attendant. She wore a floor length gown of white taffeta, made with a full skirt. She carried pink roses and white asters and wore a cross, her gift from the bride.

The groom, who wore a dress uniform, was attended by Wilbur Yahuz as best man.

The church was beautifully decorated with garden flowers.

A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bridegroom’s parents, and a reception was held there from 2 to 4 o’clock. Dinner was served at Lipperner’s Colonial Room. Among those from Loyal who attended were Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Catlin, Miss Gwendolyn Catlin, Clark Catlin and Patsy Beaver. Second Lt. Mardy J. Fried, Chicago, also attended.

The bride, a graduate of the Loyal high school and the School of Cosmetics Arts, Eau Claire, has been employed at beauty shops in Stevens Point and Marshfield. The groom, a graduate of Stevens Point high school, attended Central State Teachers college for two years and was employed as bookkeeper by the Whiting Plover Paper Co. before he entered the U.S. army.

Lt. and Mrs. Guzman took a brief wedding trip to a lake resort. After mid-August they will be at home to friends at Fort Benning. Ga.

The congratulations and best wishes of the Tribune are added to those of their many other friends.
