Weideman, Margaret (21 Jan. 1907 - 14 Apr. 1956)

Mrs. Margaret Weideman of Abbotsford, Route 1, age 49, of the town of Hull, was killed almost instantly Saturday evening about 7:30 o’clock when she was struck by an automobile.

Mrs. Weideman and daughter, Joanne, age 18, were walking west along Highway 29, about a half mile east of Abbotsford, when she was struck by the car being driven west by Elroy V. Weiler of Abbotsford, Route 1, age 25.

Marathon county police said the accident happened as Weiler pulled out to pass another car being driven by Alfred Meilke, Wausau, Route 1.

Weiler said Mrs. Weideman was walking on the pavement. He said he applied his brakes, but was unable to stop.

Joanne was walking on the shoulder of the road. Weiler’s car grazed the girl, as it struck her mother. She was treated by a physician for a bruised right leg.

County police said Mrs. Weideman’s wrist watch was knocked from her arm when she was struck. They said her body was found about 200 feet from where the watch was found. Police said Weiler’s car traveled another 300 feet beyond where Mrs. Weideman’s body was carried or thrown.

The Weideman home is about a mile east of Abbotsford, Wis. The mother and daughter were walking to the village when the accident happened.

This was the fourth consecutive week-end in which persons were killed in highway accidents on Marathon county roadways.
