Herian, Joseph W. (18 November 1874 -18 February 1948)

Joseph W. Herian, 73, died February 18, (1948) in Los Angeles, Cal. of pneumonia which followed a broken hip he received in a fall a short time ago.

He was born at West Bend November 18, 1874, to Joseph and Ann Herian. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Neillsville and settled on a farm south of town, where he lived until manhood. He worked many years as a shoe salesman on the road, and at one time owned and operated the North Side Grocery Store.

On March 29, 1903, he was married to Ella Phillips of Humbird. To this union three children were born. All survive and live in California. They are: Mrs. Standley (Jean) Maurseth of Beverly Hills; Don of Westwood; and Dale of Alhambra.

The Herians lived in Neillsville until 1928, when they moved to Los Angeles, where they have resided ever since.

He leaves his wife, Ella, and three children, and two grandchildren, Standley and Nancy Maurseth, all in California; and a brother, Henry Herian of Neillsville, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Blakslee of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Anna Maxwell of Kansas and Miss Minnie Herian of Greenwood.

Funeral services were held February 21 in Los Angeles. Interment was in Inglewood Park cemetery at Inglewood, Cal.

Pallbearers were all Clark County friends. They were: Harry Neff, Devere Barton, Henry Gunderson, George Wilding, G. O. Richardson and Roland Meade. - Mrs. Lydia Barton, secretary of Clark County Society (in Cal)
