Voigt, Alvera D. (24 NOV 1947)

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.), was the scene at 9:30 Monday morning, Nov. 24, 1947, of the marriage of Miss Alvera D. Voigt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Voigt of Loyal, and Joseph L. Zilk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zilk Sr. of Neillsville. The Rev. John J. Pritzl read the double ring service before an assemblage of relatives and close friends. The church altar was decorated with white chrysanthemums.

Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Mat Dergance of Lyons, Ill., close friends of the bride and groom. Mrs. Dergance appeared in a gown of teal blue.

The bride chose for her wedding a gown of white satin made with a train and a fitted bodice. Her fingertip veil was caught to a headdress fashioned of seed pearls. Her jewelry consisted of pearl earrings and a matching choker. Roses and plumes formed her arm bouquet. Music for the service consisted of hymns sung by the children’s choir of St. Mary’s Church.

A luncheon for 50 guests was served at Becker’s Café. The couple left for a 10-day trip in the south, and on their return, they will reside in Neillsville.

Since her graduation from the Loyal High School. Mrs. Zilk has been employed as a bookkeeper in the office of the Clark County Highway Department. The groom is a graduate of Neillsville High School, the Electric School of Engineering in Milwaukee, and the Aviation Technical School of Norman, Okla. Her served three years in the military forces. At present he is associated with his father in a garage service station in Neillsville.

Out of town guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Verhalen, Waukesha; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Voigt, Athens; Mrs. Lee Halburn, Mrs. John Baumer and Miss Betty Marg, Marshfield; Mrs. Henry Ruland, Miss Edna Shaw and Richard Lowe, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
