Hall Enlargement

There is some talk of enlarging the hall, by adding twenty feet to the west-end and a lean to for a stage sixteen feet deep, and then putting in a first-class floor for roller skating.

It seems as though the plan was quite a feasible one as it will secure the steady rental of the hall, but, if not done another hall will be built for roller skating and fitted up for theatrical performances, which will draw heavily from the present hall.

The place cannot support two halls, and, if the present hall is enlarged it is hardly to be supposed that another will be built. This work, of course, will depend upon whether it will invalidate the insurance or not. Some companies having declined to take risks on buildings used for skating rinks.

Publishing the Phonograph

If we are a little short for local, this week, our readers must charge it up to the fact that our foreman just changed his base, our devil is sick, and no one left to get of the immense amount of job work, rushed in upon us this past week, gather locals , set the type, but the proprietors, and, they being a little out of practice, make but sorry work of it, besides there were father and mother to visit with.

In fact, the chances are there would have been no Phonograph this week, if Will Wagner, of the Thorp Courier hand not helped us out, Saturday, on job work and Rudolph Stepan, the fore part of this week, on type-setting.

The sun rose yesterday morning on about 6 inches of snow.
