A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Leo Leffel of Colby, Route 1, at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, September 29.

Miss Rena Bauer and Mrs. Emma Zillmer spent last week visiting relatives and friends at New London, Green Bay and Weyauwega.

Mr. and Mrs. Chester Smith of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Knapp of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Etta Russell of Crandon called at the home of Mrs. Anna Rienow Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Stieber and Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Gabriel attended the dinner and meeting of the Marathon county postmasters and clerks at Club 29, near Wausau, Tuesday evening, Sept. 25.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reis and son Russell, and Carl Hass spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Berg at Wayzata, Minn. Mrs. Myrtle Reis returned home with them after spending the past two months at the Berg home.

Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Bauer of Fremont spent Monday with the former’s sisters, Miss Rena Bauer and Mrs. Emma Zillmer. Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Mackmiller of St. Paul, Minn., were guests several days this week at the Zillmer home.

Pvt. Raymond E. Barts and wife, Arlene returned home where he will spend a 14-day furlough before going back to Germany. He is in the 8th Infantry Division which will replace the 9th Infantry Division in Germany. He was stationed at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Mr. and Mrs. David Loos arrived here Monday night from England and are at the home of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Loos. David served in the U.S. army for two years as a first lieutenant, 21 months of which were in England. He received his honorable discharge. While in England, he married Miss Wendy Tait of Boston, England, on July 24.

Ary Pvt. Robert E. Hopkins, Jr., recently began six months of active duty training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., under the Reserve Foregs Act. Hopkins is receiving eight weeks of basic combat training which will be followed by advance individual and unit training. Men volunteering for the six-month tour of active duty are permitted to finish their military obligation in local Army Reserve or National Guard units. The 17-year-old soldier is a 1956 graduate of Central High School in Springfield, Mo.
