Fahey, Ed (Surprised - 6 JAN 1910)

Down on the Twenty-Six Road there is a little home, the interior condition of which would do credit to the most modern, up-to-date housewife, and one which she could well be proud of and even envy. But it so happens that the only housewife that presides over this comfortable domicile are the ones conjured up through the rings of smoke that dreamily waft away from the pipe of Mr. Edward Fahey, bachelor, as he smokes and dreams and dreams and smokes by his fireside these cold, and sometimes stormy evenings. This is not as it should be, for there is many a fair member of the feminine family who would be almost willing to part with her dollar box of rouge, to be the one to preside over Ed, or perhaps we should have said, his comfortable home, as it were. But things seem to suit Ed as they are, and he is the boss -- yet.

Last Thursday night Ed was in the midst of one of his most beauteous pipe illusions, with feet perched higher than his head, when he was brought to a sudden realization of things worldly by boisterous laughter and shouting, which brought his feet to the floor with a crash, and caused him to sit up sudden-like and take notice, as all this funny business seemed to be taking place at his very door.

And so it was, for Ed's ability as a chef and entertainer is known all over the county, and as his friends are numerous, this happened to be a party of them, who called to pay their respects. They were all from the city, vis:---

Mr. and Mrs. John Stafford, Mr. and Mrs. John Drummond, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fahey, Mr. and Mrs. E.N. Paul and Daughter Eunice, Mrs. J. Shanks, Miss Grace Shanks, J.A. Jacobson and Mrs. Harry Hogue. This jolly company were taken over in one laid by Mr. Stafford. Dr. Sillick also drove over.
