Allard, Adon J. (28 APR 1871 - 29 NOV 1940)

Adon J. Allard was born in Georgetown, N.Y., on April 28, 1871 and was married to Miss Blanche Manchester at Syracuse, N.Y., on Oct 13, 1894.

Mr. and Mrs. Allard came to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) in Sept. 1925 and purchased a grocery store from John Drummond, and which they owned and operated until October of this year, when they sold to Mrs. Beatrice Clayton.

Before coming to Greenwood Mr. Allard operated a jewelry store at Rib Lake for 24 years.

Mr. Allard passed away at his home here at 12 o’clock midnight, Friday, Nov. 29, 1940, after having been in poor health for several years. Death was caused by coronary thrombosis and he had been confined to his bed since the Saturday before.

He is survived by his wife, one brother John W. Allard of Cazenovia, N.Y.; one sister, Mrs. A. D. Holmes of Syracuse, N.Y. and St. Petersburg, Fla.; a niece, Mrs. H. D. Kennedy, Abbotsford, a nephew, Douglas Allard, Milwaukee, and a number of other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at the Schiller Funeral Parlors on Monday afternoon, Dec. 2, 1940 at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. A. J. Abbott of the Methodist Church officiated. During the service Rev. Abbott read a letter written by Rev. Charles Reed of the Woodbury Methodist Church of St. Paul, and who was a very dear friend of the deceased. Mrs. George Hauser and Mrs. Chal Perkins sang "Rock of Ages", accompanied by Mrs. John Meng at the organ.

The pallbearers were Albert Schwarze, Richard Shields, Roy Thorson, John Drummond, Wm. Steiger and O. W. Trindal.

Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. John Allard of Cazenovia, N.Y., Mr. and Mrs. Homer Kennedy, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Booth, Glenwood City; Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Trindal, Loyal.
