Peterson, Peter E. (18 May 1866 - 1 January 1949)

Peter E. Peterson, 82, died January 1, (1949) at his home in Greenwood. Funeral services were held Monday, January 3, at 2 p.m. from the Cole Funeral Home, after which the body was taken to Sunset Memorial Park, Minneapolis, for Cremation.

Dr. Sarah Rosekrans sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. Cole at the piano. Past Master A. L. Devos conducted the Masonic service. The Rev. Thomas Gantenbein of La Crosse was officiating clergyman.

Mr. Peterson was born in Norway on May 18, 1866. When nine years old he came to Greenwood with his parents, where he spent the remainder of his life. He received his education in the Greenwood schools. He later became owner of the telephone company in Greenwood.

He was married to Miss Elizabeth Spencer in 1893 at La Crosse. She preceded him in death on November 28, 1948.

He is survived by two children, Everett Peterson, Pontiac, Mich.; and Mrs. Ray (Cepha) Knutson, Greenwood; and by two sisters, Mrs. Ingeberg and Mrs. Anna Dyre, both of Greenwood.

Mr. Peterson was a member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge, No. 249, and the ancient accepted Scottish Rite of Eau Claire.

Those from out-of-town attending the funeral were the Ernest Petersons of Pontiac, Mich.
