Genteman, Philip (16 July 1884 - 13 January 1949)

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Georgas Funeral Home and 2 o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran Church for Philip Genteman, 64, who died January 13 (1949), at the Mount View Sanitarium, Wausau. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Rev. Adolph Schumann officiated.

Mr. Genteman was born July 16, 1884, in Austria. He received his education in Germany and was married there in 1908. He came to the United States in 1912 and located in Chicago, where he lived about a year. He then moved to the township of Levis, where he farmed until 1922. At that time he returned to Chicago, where he was employed by the Oscar Meyer (Mayer) Company for 18 years.

In 1940 Mr. Genteman returned to the farm and resided with his son, William, until he entered the sanitarium recently.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Mr. Genteman is survived by two sons, William of the Town of Levis, and Henry of Chicago; and a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Katherine) Kurbyun of McHenry, Ill.; a sister in Europe; two brothers, Henry of the Town of Levis and Michael of Stone Park, Ill. and 10 grandchildren.

His wife preceded him in death in 1918, and a brother, Carl, died in 1920.

Pallbearers were: Frank Neubecker, Matt Neubecker, William Neubecker, Pete Schaefer, John Sonheim and Herman Meier. Those in charge of flowers were: Mrs. Herbert Keller and Mrs. Henry Seidelman.

Out-of-town people attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Genteman of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kurbyun and daughter of McHenry, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Michael Genteman and son, Robert of McHenry, Ill.
